Regent's Park as a housing estate

LEVERTON, Thomas & CHAWNER, Thomas.

Plan of an Estate Belonging to the Crown, called Marybone Park Farm, upon A Design for letting it out on Building Leases.
London: Cadell & Davies et al, 1814. Original colour. Printed area 215 x 280mm.

Trimmed close to printed border top and bottom, extra margin added at top.

A plan of one of the three proposals for the development of the land owned by the Crown in Marylebone, submitted by Thomas Leverton (1743-1824), the architect to the Office of His Majesty's Woods, Forests, and Land Revenue, and his assistant. Instead of an urban park they suggest a development of terraces and villas of various sizes, thus maximising the revenue from the project.
This plan was engraved by Neele from a manuscript by Peter Potter, and was published in John White's ''Some Account of the Proposed Improvements of the Western Part of London, By the Formation of the Regent's Park, The New Street, The New Sewer, &c. &c.''.
